The importance of mental health awareness was emphasized in a recent session held on Thursday 16 May.
Organized by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the event was attended by students in order to encourage them to learn more about mental health.
The session was led by Ms. Sandy Chaar, a clinical and psychotherapist also a part-time instructor at Azm University, who discussed many challenges students can face on a daily basis, including academic stress, friendship issues, family concerns etc.
During the session, students also played a true or false game that tested their knowledge about mental health. For instance, they were asked if medication is always necessary for depression (false) and if mental health issues only affect certain type of people (false). The game was fun for the students who found it an engaging way to learn more about this topic
Overall, the mental health awareness session demonstrated the power of education and awareness in making a positive impact on the lives of students.
