ARCHIDES Public Lecture Series Fall 2020: Future Vernacular
27/11/2020
The first talk in ARCHIDES Public Lecture Series of Fall 2020 was held on Thursday, December 3rd, presented by Wael Al Awar- principal architect at Waiwai- who talked on Future Vernacular.
Abstract:
Humanity is threatened by a climate crisis, amidst a widening political and economic divide.
The construction industry contributes to this crisis globally by using unsustainable material. Materials also move in every direction of the world in mass production to satisfy our thirst for newness.
The new "new" must explore the localness to help in restoring the environmental imbalances and as importantly preserving our cultural identities.
Wael Al Awar will also be presenting the key design principles behind his works.
