Azm University is now a member of AUF!

On the occasion of Azm University becoming a member of the AUF (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie) international network of 1000+ higher education institutions, AUF regional director for the Middle East, Dr. Hervé Sabourin, accompanied by the manager of CNF (Campus Numerique Francophone) of Tripoli, Dr. Imad El Kassaa, visited Azm University on July 27, 2020 and shared with the University administration, faculty and staff the potential for collaboration locally and internationally.
Mr. Hani Mawlawi, director of Quality Assurance and the Entrepreneurship Center, shed some light on the partnership between Azm University and AUF in the last three years on various initiatives, including the well-attended and successful co-organized first entrepreneurship symposium in Tripoli (Promoting Entrepreneurship for Economic Development in North Lebanon) held at Azm University in April 2017 and the active participation of Azm University in the AUF DEEL (Development de l’Entrepreneuriat Etudiant au Liban) program, which includes the yearly National Student Entrepreneur competition among 15+ universities..
In his welcoming remarks, Azm University president, Dr. Ramez Maluf, thanked Dr. Sabourin for his visit and highlighted the importance of AUF membership for Azm University to support the University strategic goals with regards to internationalization, quality assurance, research and entrepreneurship. Dr. Maluf also outlined the revised vision of Azm University as a University for the Outstanding, offering an excellent education and full scholarship to outstanding students.
In his speech, Dr. Sabourin congratulated Azm University for becoming an AUF member and thanked Mr. Mawlawi and Azm University for their active partnership with AUF for the last 3 years. Dr. Sabourin then made a presentation providing an overview of AUF, AUF strategies, and AUF leading projects in the Middle East. He also explained AUF annual and permanent calls for projects and how Azm University can benefit from these opportunities in various categories, such as innovative academic programs, mobility programs for researchers and students, scientific cooperation missions, inter-university scientific cooperation programs, financial support for scientific conferences and publications, and participation in international conferences.
At the conclusion of the visit, President Maluf presented to Dr. Sabourin a signed copy of his book “50 Tripoli Lives”, An Azm University Publication and then hosted a lunch in the honor of the AUF delegates.
