AUF Competition Could Take You and Your Idea Abroad
26/02/2020
For the third year in a row, Azm University students will be participating in the National Student Entrepreneur “DEEL” competition, organized by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), offering winners a chance to develop a good idea abroad.
During the information session held at Azm University on February 20, Mr. Hani Mawlawi, director of the University’s Entrepreneurship Center, highlighted the importance for students to participate in such competitions as they “help develop an entrepreneurial mindset and allow students to gain some entrepreneurial and soft skills, both of which are badly needed in the 21st century.
Students will first compete internally, within each university, and then the finalist team from each of the 12 participating universities will pitch their business ideas in a national competition in Beirut. Up to six selected teams will be then awarded a one-month business incubation in France, Switzerland or Canada!
The Azm University finalist from last year’s competition, Mohamad Makkawi, shared with the audience some of the lessons learned, tips, advice, and pitfalls to avoid. All students interested in participating will attend an internal ideation and team formation workshop as a first step towards completing their business idea. We wish all participating teams a great entrepreneurial journey throughout the competition!
