As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), the Entrepreneurship Center, in collaboration with Faculty of Business Administration at Azm University, has organized an interactive panel discussion on Empowering Youth through Entrepreneurship. The event was attended by Dr. Abdel-ilah Mikati, chairman of Board of trustees of Azm University, Azm university faculty and staff, committed Azm university students from all faculties, in addition to a good number of students, entrepreneurs and professionals from the Tripoli community.
The event started by a welcoming message from the Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, Dr. Samer Nakhle, who highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship education at Azm University and emphasized that promoting entrepreneurship culture among students and the community at large is part of Azm University vison and that is why the entrepreneurship center was established. Then, the director of Entrepreneurship Center at Azm University, Mr. Hani Mawlawi, moderated the discussion with three entrepreneurship experts in Lebanon, namely, Mr. Andre Abi Awad, Founder and CEO, Entreprenergy, Mrs. Mirna Shidrawi, Manager, Entrepreneur Institute at AMIDEAST, and Mr. Amir Saab, Founder of Taqqadam, and certified Entrepreneurship Educator from Babson College (USA).
The discussion included several topics related to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship such as:
• Importance of entrepreneurship education /capacity building for youth empowerment
• Development of entrepreneurial mindset
• Opportunities available for young entrepreneurs in Lebanon
• Success stories of young entrepreneurs in Lebanon
• Highlights on few youth empowerment/entrepreneurship programs in Lebanon
• Important advices for our youth and future young entrepreneurs
A Q&A session followed the panel, where students from Azm University and Lebanese University asked important questions related to their innovative startup projects.
