Synopsis of Mr. Akram Zaatari
Born in Saida (Lebanon) 1966
Lives and works in Beirut
Zaatari’s practice is tied to the practice of researching and studying existing documents. He is interested in looking at the present through a wealth of past photographic records. His work in film and photography reflects on the shifting nature of borders and the production and circulation of images in the context of the current political divisions in the Middle East. He represented Lebanon at the Venice Biennial in 2013, and took part of Documenta13 in 20012.

Akram Zaatari will talk about the process behind many of his video works and will share with the public excerpts and installation images while specifying the difference between space installation of film and video material and theatrical viewing.
