26/11/2024
Dr. Nazih El Jor, President of EIU, attended the Erasmus Plus Program meeting in Rome, Italy, last week, alongside representatives from other Lebanese universities. This meeting brought together leading academic and institutional figures, focused on advancing the Social Entrepreneurship Program in collaboration with prominent international partners, including UNIMED, Uninettuno, and the Technological University of the Shannon.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to discuss the continuation and expansion of this innovative three-year program, which is designed to equip EIU students with the skills and knowledge necessary to tackle global social challenges through entrepreneurship. Central to the discussions was developing a comprehensive framework that includes student training, teacher support, and the execution of socially impactful entrepreneurial projects.

The program aims to empower EIU students to become leaders and change-makers by providing practical tools and guidance for launching social enterprises that address issues such as poverty, inequality, and environmental sustainability. In addition to fostering student entrepreneurship, the initiative will also focus on teacher development, ensuring that faculty members are well-equipped to mentor and guide students through the complex process of developing social entrepreneurship projects.

A key aspect of the meeting was to emphasize promoting social sustainability through entrepreneurial endeavors that create long-term, positive impacts in local Lebanese communities. By supporting the growth of socially responsible businesses, the program aims to encourage a new generation of entrepreneurs who are not only driven by profit but also by a commitment to making a difference in society.

This meeting in Rome highlights EIU engagement efforts and marked an important step toward ensuring the program’s success and long-term impact, reinforcing the commitment of the East International University to fostering innovation, collaboration, and social change across borders.
